Vocalese is an album by American vocal group The Manhattan Transfer, released in 1985. Musically, the album is rooted in jazz vocalese that sets instrumental jazz solos to sung lyrics with dense four-part harmonies, intricate rhythmic phrasing, bebop-based melodies and close ensemble timing, and it came as the group moved toward more overt jazz material in their career.
