Symphony No. 5
Album by Gustav Mahler & Berliner Philharmoniker & Gustavo Dudamel
Symphony No. 5 is the fifth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1902. A large-scale purely orchestral work, it moves away from the vocal elements of his earlier symphonies and juxtaposes dramatic brass fanfares, lyrical string writing and intricate contrapuntal passages, marking a pivotal shift in Mahler's career towards denser instrumental architecture in his middle period.
