Polonaises

Album by Fryderyk Chopin & Maurizio Pollini

Polonaises is a collection of solo piano pieces by Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, composed between 1817 and 1849. The works fuse Polish dance rhythms and Romantic-era piano writing, characterised by march-like themes, expansive lyrical passages and considerable technical demands, and they occupy an important place in Chopin's output as expressions of national identity within the Romantic piano repertoire.
