Symphony No. 8 in E flat major "Symphony of a Thousand"
Album by Gustav Mahler & Robert Shaw & Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus
Symphony No. 8 in E-flat major, known as the Symphony of a Thousand, is a symphony by Gustav Mahler, completed in 1906. Scored for unusually large forces including a large orchestra, multiple choirs and vocal soloists, it synthesises late-Romantic orchestral textures with choral settings of sacred and philosophical texts and represents a large-scale culmination in Mahler's late-period output that expanded the scale and scope of the symphonic form.
