Octet in F major, D 803
Album by Franz Schubert & Wigmore Soloists
Octet in F major, D. 803 is an octet composition by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, completed in 1824. The work is a large-scale chamber piece for winds and strings that blends Classical forms with rich harmonic colour and extended melodic lines, and it sits late in Schubert's instrumental output when he broadened his approach to texture and form.
