Symphonie no. 96 "The Miracle" / no. 100 "Militär"

Album by Joseph Haydn & Berliner Philharmoniker & Herbert von Karajan

Symphonies No. 96 and No. 100 are orchestral works by Joseph Haydn, composed during his London period in the early 1790s (No. 96 completed in 1791 and No. 100 in 1794). They exemplify Haydn's mature classical style, combining formal clarity and inventive thematic development with expanded orchestration and colourful wind and percussion writing that helped broaden the expressive and dramatic range of the symphony in late 18th-century music.
