Flying Home (1942 - 1945)

Flying Home (1942–1945) is a compilation album of recordings by American jazz vibraphonist Lionel Hampton from 1942 to 1945. The music is rooted in swing and big band jazz with strong blues and early R&B influence, it has Hampton's energetic vibraphone-led arrangements and prominent horn writing, and it comes from the period when he led his own bands as jazz moved from wartime big band formats toward smaller, rhythm-driven groups.
