This release is a collection of three orchestral tone poems composed by Richard Strauss between 1888 and 1897. They exemplify Strauss's development as a composer of programme music, showcasing expansive late-Romantic orchestration, vivid tone-painting and increasingly adventurous harmonic language that mark his transition to mature orchestral writing and his significance in fin-de-siècle musical history.
