Symphony no. 1 in D major
Album by Gustav Mahler & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Carlos Païta
Symphony No. 1 in D major is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1888. The work combines late-Romantic orchestral textures, folk-influenced melodies and dramatic dynamic contrasts with programme-driven movements, and occupies an important place in Mahler's early output as he expanded the scale and expressive scope of the symphony.
