This release is a recording of two string quartets by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806 and 1809. They are Classical period chamber works that use motivic development, denser textures and sharper contrasts than his earlier quartets, and they come from his middle period when he moved toward larger structures and heightened expressivity in chamber music.
