String Quartets no. 20, KV 499 & no. 21, KV 575
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Alban Berg Quartett
String Quartets No. 20, KV 499 and No. 21, KV 575 are string quartet compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1786 and 1789 respectively. Musically they exemplify Classical-era chamber writing with clear textures, conversational interplay between the instruments and moments of contrapuntal complexity, and they occupy a position in Mozart's later chamber output that bridges his mid-1780s style and the more formally expansive quartets of his final years.
