Symphonies no. 5, op. 67 & no. 7, op. 92
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Westdeutsche Sinfonia Leverkusen & Dirk Joeres
Symphonies No. 5, Op. 67 and No. 7, Op. 92 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1808 and 1812 respectively. The Fifth is centred on a short-short-short-long motif with intense, tightly argued development, while the Seventh is more rhythmically driven and broad in its movements, and both sit in his middle period where he pursued greater formal experimentation and a wider emotional range in his symphonic writing.
