A Sea Symphony

Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & Joan Rodgers & Simon Keenlyside & BBC Symphony Chorus & Philharmonia Chorus & Trinity College of Music Chamber Choir & BBC Symphony Orchestra & Leonard Slatkin

A Sea Symphony is a choral symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, first performed in 1910. The work sets long poetic texts for chorus and orchestra, combining expansive symphonic writing with modal harmonies, seafaring imagery and large-scale vocal forces, and it represents Vaughan Williams's first symphony that helped establish his voice in early 20th-century British music.
