Uptownship is a studio album by South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela, released in 1989. The album blends jazz and Afro-pop elements, combining Masekela's trumpet-led arrangements with township rhythms, funk and contemporary production, and represents a continuation of his efforts to foreground South African musical traditions within an international jazz context late in his career.
