Quatuor "La Jeune fille et la Mort"

String Quartet No. 14 in D minor is a string quartet by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1824 and commonly known by its French nickname. Written in Schubert's late period, it is characterised by a dark D minor tonality, stark emotional contrasts and a movement of variations derived from an earlier song, and it represents a move towards greater dramatic intensity and structural cohesion that influenced Romantic chamber music.
