Patterns in a Chromatic Field is a composition for orchestra by American composer Morton Feldman, completed in 1981. Representative of Feldman's late style, the work employs extended duration, subtly shifting static harmonies, very soft dynamics and delicate orchestral textures to create a sparse, slowly unfolding sound world, and it stands among his late large-scale orchestral compositions that contributed to developments in late twentieth-century experimental music.
