Serenades no. 1 & no. 2
Album by Johannes Brahms & Scottish Chamber Orchestra & Charles Mackerras
Serenades No. 1 and No. 2 are orchestral works by the German composer Johannes Brahms, composed in 1858 and 1859. They exhibit Brahms's early Romantic orchestral style, blending classical forms with lyrical melodies, chamber-like textures and transparent, pastoral orchestration, and they occupy a formative place in his career as precursors to his later symphonies.
