Water Music

Album by George Frideric Handel & Concentus Musicus Wien & Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Water Music is a suite by German-British composer Georg Friderich Händel, composed in 1717. The work exemplifies Baroque orchestral writing through a sequence of dance-derived movements scored for strings, woodwinds and brass and was conceived for public outdoor performance on the River Thames, reflecting Handel's development of large-scale ceremonial music during his early London period.
