Symphonies Nos. 2, 6
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Academy of Ancient Music & Christopher Hogwood
Symphonies Nos. 2 and 6 are orchestral compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1802 and 1808 respectively. Musically they contrast a spirited early-period symphony rooted in Classical forms with a later, programme-oriented work that uses nature-inspired motifs and expanded orchestration to explore descriptive and expressive possibilities, illustrating Beethoven's move toward the Romantic idiom.
