Symphonie no. 4

Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & London Symphony Orchestra & Karl Böhm

Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36 is the fourth symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed in 1877 and first performed in 1878. The work features a prominent opening motif, rich late-Romantic orchestration and contrasts of lyrical slow movements with turbulent, march-like passages, marking a turning point in Tchaikovsky's symphonic writing as he moved towards more expansive, emotionally driven structures.
