Elijah (Oratorio), op. 70
Album by Felix Mendelssohn & London Symphony Orchestra & London Symphony Chorus & Richard Hickox
Elijah is an oratorio by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, composed and first performed in 1846. It synthesises Baroque oratorio models with Romantic harmonic language and expansive choral and orchestral writing, and it occupies a central place among Mendelssohn's large-scale vocal works composed near the end of his life.
