Symphonies 5 & 7
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & NDR Radiophilharmonie & Andrew Manze
Symphonies Nos. 5 and 7 are orchestral compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1804 and 1808 and between 1811 and 1812 respectively. Both works exhibit Beethoven's expansion of Classical-era symphonic language through bold rhythmic impetus, concentrated motivic development and enlarged orchestral textures, with the Fifth's concise recurring motif and the Seventh's rhythmic vitality marking important steps toward the Romantic symphony.
