Theresienmesse / Nelsonmesse
Album by Joseph Haydn & Tafelmusik & Tölzer Knabenchor & Ann Monoyios & Svetlana Serdar & Wolfgang Bünten & Harry van der Kamp & Bruno Weil
Theresienmesse / Nelsonmesse is a pairing of two masses by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, composed in 1799 and 1798 respectively. Both works are late-Classical sacred masses that deploy orchestra, choir and soloists within liturgical forms, combining clear, balanced melodies and formal economy with shifts in mood and orchestral colour that reflect Haydn's mature style and his place in the late period of his career.
