Piano Quintets
Album by Béla Bartók & Erich Wolfgang Korngold & Goldner String Quartet & Piers Lane
The Piano Quintet is a chamber work by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1904. The piece belongs to his early period and juxtaposes late-Romantic harmonic language and dense string textures with virtuosic piano writing and early traces of folk-influenced rhythms and modal inflections that would shape his later modernist style.
