Songs Without Words is a series of short piano pieces by Felix Mendelssohn, composed and published in several books between 1829 and 1845. Written in a Romantic lyrical style that emphasises song-like melodies and clear formal structures, the pieces represent a central strand of Mendelssohn's output and helped popularise the solo piano miniature in the nineteenth century.
