Má Vlast (My Country)
Album by Bedřich Smetana & Štátna filharmónia Košice & Reinhard Seifried
Má vlast is a cycle of six symphonic poems by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, composed between 1874 and 1879. The set is programmatic and rooted in Czech nationalism, using recurring motifs, vivid orchestral colour and descriptive themes to evoke Bohemian landscapes and history, and it occupies a central place in Smetana's later output and the development of Czech national music.
First released: June 1997
