The Planets, op. 32
Album by Gustav Holst & Hallé Orchestra & James Loughran
The Planets, Op. 32 is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, composed between 1914 and 1916 and first performed in 1918. Scored for large orchestra, the suite employs vivid orchestral colour, shifting rhythms and adventurous harmonies to depict a sequence of astrological characters, and it represents a major large-scale orchestral work in Holst's career and a significant contribution to early 20th-century British music.
