The Rosary Sonatas is a cycle of sonatas by Bohemian-born composer Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, composed c. 1674. Written for violin with extensive scordatura and rooted in the Baroque sonata tradition, the collection features virtuosic writing, stark expressive contrasts and devotional programme elements that occupy a distinctive place in Biber's output and in the development of late 17th-century instrumental music.
