Symphonies of Wind Instruments
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Chilingirian Quartet & Nash Ensemble & Simon Rattle & Jane Manning & Sir Richard Rodney Bennett
Symphonies of Wind Instruments is a composition for wind ensemble by Igor Stravinsky, composed in 1920. The work uses lean, contrapuntal textures, dissonant harmonies and sharp rhythmic articulation to foreground wind timbres, and it marks a move in Stravinsky's post-World War I output towards the neoclassical clarity and smaller-scale forms he explored thereafter.
