Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Ákos Ambrus & Tamas Dubno & Ida Szabó & Budapesti Tomkins Énekegyüttes & Zoltán Kocsis
The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom is a choral work by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, composed in 1910. Scored for mixed choir and rooted in the Russian Orthodox liturgical tradition, it employs expansive late-Romantic harmonies, rich choral textures and chant-influenced modal melodies, and represents an early example of Rachmaninoff's sacred choral writing that foreshadows his later choral output.
