Carmen for Orchestra
Album by Georges Bizet & The English Festival Orchestra & Richard Rebus
Carmen for Orchestra is an orchestral suite derived from Georges Bizet's 1875 opera Carmen. The music adapts the opera's themes into colourful orchestral writing with Spanish-inflected rhythms and vivid instrumentation, and the suite has helped to establish Bizet's music within the concert repertory while influencing later composers' use of exotic colours in French music.
