String Quartets 1-6
Album by Béla Bartók & Vertavo String Quartet
String Quartets 1–6 is a cycle of six string quartets by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed between 1908 and 1939. The works chart a progression from late-Romantic influences to a personal modernist language incorporating folk-derived modal melodies, expanded chromatic harmony and complex rhythms, and they represent a pivotal strand of Bartók's chamber output and of twentieth-century string quartet repertoire.
