Album by Jean Sibelius & Soile Isokoski & Tommi Hakala & Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat & Helsingin kaupunginorkesteri & Leif Segerstam
Kullervo is a symphonic work in five movements by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, composed and first performed in 1892. Scored for large orchestra with vocal soloists and a male chorus, it draws on Finnish mythology and combines orchestral colour, choral writing and folk-influenced material, representing an early large-scale statement that helped establish Sibelius's reputation and foreshadows his later symphonic style.
