Album by Antonín Dvořák & Česká filharmonie & Václav Talich
Symphony No. 9 in E minor, 'From the New World', is a symphony by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, completed in 1893. It blends late-Romantic orchestration with motifs drawn from American and Bohemian folk music, characterised by broad melodic writing, prominent wind passages and colourful orchestral textures, and it is the final completed symphony Dvořák wrote while working in the United States, reflecting his engagement with transatlantic musical currents.
