This album is a collection of orchestral tone poems by Richard Strauss, with the works originally composed in the late 1880s and the mid 1890s. The music has late-Romantic orchestration with prominent brass, sweeping strings and clear woodwind colour, and it was written during Strauss's early period as he moved from Liszt-influenced writing towards his own orchestral voice.
