The Soldier's Tale
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Kanji Ishimaru & Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Columbia Chamber Ensemble
The Soldier's Tale is a theatrical work by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, composed in 1918. Scored for a small ensemble with spoken narration and dance, it blends sharp rhythmic drive, folk and popular-dance influences and jazz-inflected harmonies, and occupies a central place in Stravinsky's post-World War I output as he moved toward more compact, chamber-like forms.
First released: 15th April 2015
