Peter and the Wolf, Op. 67 is a symphonic fairy tale for children by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev (Сергей Сергеевич Прокофьев), composed in 1936. Composed after Prokofiev's return to the Soviet Union, the work assigns distinctive instrumental timbres to characters and uses concise themes and vivid orchestral colours to tell a narrated story intended to introduce young listeners to the orchestra.
