Requiem is a choral-orchestral setting of the Mass by French composer Gabriel Fauré, completed in 1890. The work is characterised by lyrical melodies, restrained orchestration and an emphasis on consolation over drama, marking a turn towards intimacy in Fauré's sacred output and occupying a prominent place in the late-Romantic choral repertoire.
