Symphony No. 1 in D major "Titan" is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1888. The work features expansive orchestration, dramatic contrasts and thematic transformation that blend late-Romantic orchestral colour with emerging modernist tendencies, and it marks the beginning of Mahler's symphonic output as he developed his large-scale, often programme-influenced approach to form and expression.
