Pictures at an Exhibition

Album by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky & London Symphony Orchestra & Jacek Kaspszyk

Pictures at an Exhibition is a suite for solo piano by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky, composed in 1874. Rooted in Romantic-era and Russian nationalist idioms, the work employs vivid programme writing with recurring march-like material and contrasting character pieces, and it occupies an important place in Mussorgsky's output and in the development of late 19th-century Russian music.
