Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade

Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Slovenská filharmónia & Bystrík Režucha

Scheherazade is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. The work draws on orientalist themes and late-Romantic orchestral colours, featuring vivid orchestration, sweeping strings and recurring solo lines, and it exemplifies Rimsky-Korsakov's mature style as a significant example of Russian programme music from the late 19th century.
