Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & Philharmonia Orchestra & Philharmonia Chorus & Leonard Slatkin
A Sea Symphony is a choral symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, completed in 1909 and first performed in 1910. The work marries large-scale orchestral and choral forces with modal harmonies, expansive melodies and evocative maritime textures, and it represents Vaughan Williams's first symphony, marking a formative moment in his career and in the development of early 20th-century British orchestral music.
