Departure is the seventh studio album by American rock band Journey, released in 1980. The album continues the band's shift toward a more radio-friendly, arena rock sound characterised by driving guitar work, prominent synthesiser textures and concise uptempo arrangements, marking a transitional point as they moved from late-1970s experimentation toward a mainstream rock focus.
