Messiah (1751 version)

Album by George Frideric Handel & Academy of Ancient Music & Choir of New College Oxford & Edward Higginbottom

Messiah (1751 version) is a revised version of the oratorio Messiah by George Frideric Handel, dating to 1751. Musically it is a Baroque English-language oratorio that juxtaposes recitative, solo aria and substantial choral writing, and the 1751 revision reflects Handel's late-career adjustments to scoring and performance practice that influenced subsequent presentations of the work.
