Symphony No. 3 is the third numbered symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1896. The work is a large-scale, six-movement symphony that employs expanded late-Romantic orchestral forces, including choir and solo voice, and reflects Mahler's middle-period shift toward programme-oriented structure, extended forms and wide-ranging contrasts in timbre and mood.
