Symphony no. 3 ‘The Organ’

Album by Camille Saint‐Saëns & Charles‐Marie Widor & Jules Grison & Joseph Jongen & Jane Parker‐Smith & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Serge Baudo

Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78, "The Organ" is a symphony by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, composed and first performed in 1886. Musically it is a late-Romantic orchestral work marked by the prominent use of the pipe organ within the orchestral texture, a cyclical approach to thematic material and expansive harmonic and orchestral colouring that reflect Saint-Saëns's late-career synthesis of classical form and Romantic sonority.
First released: 1999
