Symphonies no. 4 & no. 8
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Franz Liszt & Alain Planès
Symphonies No. 4 and No. 8 are orchestral compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806 and 1812 respectively. Musically they reflect different facets of his middle-period style: the Fourth blends poised classical balance with moments of lyrical drama, while the Eighth deliberately evokes earlier classical models with brisk tempi, concise structures and a streak of humour, together showing a composer refining formal experiment and expressive range.
