The Prisoner

The Prisoner is a studio album by American jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, released in 1969. The album blends post-bop and modal jazz with orchestral arrangements and soul-inflected, avant-garde touches while addressing social and political themes, and it occupies a transitional position in Hancock's career between his 1960s acoustic work and his later turn towards electric and funk-oriented styles.
