Symphony No. 4 in G major
Album by Gustav Mahler & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Klaus Tennstedt & Lucia Popp
Symphony No. 4 in G major is the fourth symphony by Gustav Mahler, completed in 1901. Marked by a lighter, more transparent orchestration within a late-Romantic idiom, it juxtaposes pastoral and introspective textures with a relatively compact formal design and occupies a transitional place in Mahler's output as a move toward greater concision compared with his earlier large-scale symphonies.
