Pomp and Circumstance Military Marches/ Enigma variations
Album by Edward Elgar & Sir Georg Solti & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Pomp and Circumstance Marches and the Enigma Variations are orchestral works by English composer Edward Elgar, composed in 1901–1930 and 1899 respectively. Musically, they exemplify Elgar's late-Romantic orchestral idiom, combining broad, processional gestures and lyrical string writing with rich harmonic language and variation techniques, and they occupy a central place in the development of English orchestral music at the turn of the 20th century.
